Second trial suggests that single dose of H1N1 swine flu vaccine Pandemrix® provides strong immune response

Source: Department of Health (DH) Area: News According to GlaxoSmithKline, a second clinical trial of its adjuvanted H1N1 swine flu vaccine Pandemrix® has confirmed that a single dose could provide a strong immune response. Experts had initially expected that adults would need two doses of H1N1 vaccine to obtain a good response but vaccine trials conducted by various manufacturers suggest one dose is probably enough. These data reinforce the recommendations from the UK Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation on use of a single dose of Pandemix for non-immunocompromised individuals aged from 10 years upwards.
