A controlled trial of a Chinese H1N1 influenza ('swine flu') vaccine showed it to produce good levels of immunity in a wide range of age groups.
The trial aimed to determine safety and efficacy of various doses of a H1N1 flu vaccine manufactured using standard flu vaccine techniques, in a range of age groups and with or without an alum adjuvant. It involved healthy individuals aged between 3 and 77 years and without known previous exposure to the 2009 H1N1 flu virus or vaccine, stratified by age (3-11, 12-17, 18-60, and 60+).
